GIFTS THAT ARE NOT GIFTS

1Co 14:12

Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.

Right from the start of this section Paul was explain the subject of spiritual matters, not spiritual gifts, The reason why your King James Bible has the word gift in italics is because it was never there in the first place. The Greek word was pneumatikos meaning spiritual things or matters, and “gifts” was added to help the translation. I think it confused us.

There has been confusion caused by the KJV translation of the holy scripture. You might say but i thought the KJV Bible was THE word of God. No it is a translation of it I say. You may say the Reina Valera translation into Spanish or the Louis Segund is in French. I say no again. They are translations of the Word of God. And the word of God was and still is Jesus Christ.

We have been given the religious interpretations and then there is the Truth of the Word.
The Word is Jesus and He is the Red Pill. The Blue one will leave you blue
Which do you want to take?

We have been given His spirit through believing the written Gospel. But we have received Christ not the Bible into our hearts when we believed on Gods Son Jesus. God Gave His Son to the world. That it the Gift God gave to the world. We have believed and received His Spirit. When we believed it was at that moment we were born from above and we began to be saved by the Gift of Christ. At that moment we received the fulness of Christ but it is our faith that determines how we will use it.

Jhn 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life

The verb “to give” implies a “gift”

Eph 4:7

But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift (Dorea) of Christ.

This was the gift of grace was given according to the measure of Christ. He is above all things, how much bigger is that? Only God the Father. He is measureless!

Rom 12:3

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

This is the gift of faith that each person is dealt or given. Each part of the Body of Christ has a part to do. We have the infinite potential of Christ in us, but we all have different measures of faith given and at different periods as we grow into Chist.

Here the word for gift was not the same as in 1 Corinthians it was dorea

The first place the word “gift” really was written in this section about so called “gifts” but really about the subject of spiritual things, was here

1Co 12:4

Now there are diversities of gifts (Charisma), but the same Spirit.

And in Ephesians 4:7 The Gift of Christ is the word Dorea.

I want to look at the difference because Paul was speaking of two kinds of Gifts

When you see the word gifts in the KJV that is not in italics, it can be “Charisma” or “Dorea”

So what is the difference?

According to Vine’s Dictionary a charisma “gift” is “‘a gift of grace, a gift involving grace’ (charisG5485) on the part of God as the donor.” A Dorea denotes “a free gift,” stressing its gratuitous character;

The word Charisma came from the word Charis or Grace. The word Dorea originated with the word Didomi or to Give. So Charima emphasises Gifts of Grace and Dorea Gifts of Giving. But in 1 Corinthians gifts are not gifts but demonstration of The Gift of Christ!

The idea of Charima is that we did nothing and did not deserve Christ. In fact we deserved death. The idea of Dorea is that it cost us nothing. Whether we worked for it or not it was Free. Christ was freely given to us when we least deserved Him.

In 1 Corinthians 12 :3 Tells us no man can declare the Lord but by the holy spirit

This continues the subject not about gifts, because it was assumed they had the Gift, but this letter was about spiritual matters. The subject was the holy spirit or Christ that had been given to the Corinthian (and all) believers.

This is the gift from God through Christ and now living in every believer who asks

There was no Capitalization in the English Bibles was never in the originals and this caused much more confusion

The word “pneuma hagion” must be understood by the Context not capitals

Pneuma hagion is translated into English in the King James Bible as holy spirit, Holy Spirit, and Holy Ghost.

But it is God, the Father of ALL things, the Creator who is (and i will capitalize for respect) Holy Spirit. Who gave His nature pneuma hagion or holy spirit to Christ without measure. Then place d God (holy spirit) in Christ (holy spirit) into us (our gift of holy spirit or GOD IN CHRIST IN US)

Jhn 3:34

For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.

Of course this was speaking of Gods Son Jesus Christ in the context.

1Co 12:4

Now there are diversities of gifts, (Charimata pl) but the same Spirit

1Co 12:9

To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts (charismata) of healing by the same Spirit;

1Co 12:30

Have all the gifts (charismata) of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

1Co 12:31

But covet earnestly the best gifts: (charismata) and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

1Pe 4:10

As every man hath received the gift, (charismata) even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

I want to correct the idea of gifts are only for certain persons and not available to the rest! As we saw in Romans 12 it is according to your believing or faith.

So in Chapters 12, 13 and 14 you can erase the word “gifts” It was never Gods words

1Co 12:1

Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant………

(Now concerning spiritual things brethren I would not have you ignorant!

1Co 14:1

Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.

Follow after love and desire spiritual things, but rather that you may prophesy

1Co 14:12

Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.

So also you — since you are zealous for spiritual matters seek to excel in building up the church.

Eph 4:7

But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift (dorea) of Christ.

« According as God hath dealt to every man.—The standard of action which each Christian ought to propose to himself should be in proportion to the amount of his faith as given to him by God. He who has the strongest faith may assume the highest standard, and offer himself for the highest offices, and so on down the scale. It is, however, essential that the estimate which each man puts upon the strength of his own faith, should be thoroughly single-minded and sincere, nor biased by self-love. The Apostle assumes that this will be the case. » Ellicot

Rom 12:3

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

And even “our” faith or believing is a gift from God. Although we must believe if God did not create our brain, than how could we believe to do anything?

Eph 2:8

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

Rom 12:6

Having then gifts (charimata) differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

But as we learn to believe we can do and serve more and more in spiritual matters.

There are many kinds of gifts of Grace in life. Gifts of healing, Gifts of ministies, gifts even of physical bodies. But there is one that is above all gifts and that is the Gift of Christ.

And He is poured out by Grace on those who have worked all their life against Him. That is a gift of grace inspite of what you did!

There many kinds of gifts that are free but there is only one Free Gift of Christ. That is a free gift in spite of what you didn’t do!

He is the best of the two words for gift Dorea and Charisma. He is a free Gift and an undeserved one.

Rom 5:15 NAS

But the gracious gift (Charisma) is not like the offense. For if by the offense of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many.

Jesus Christ is our Gift of Grace (Charisma) because we deserved nothing but death.

Rom 6:23 NAS

For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift (Charisma) of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The (Charisma) gift of Christ is the Gift of Eternal life!

Rom 11:29NAS

for the (Charismata pl) gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

Once you have Christ you can never lose! That is what Eternal means right?

But back to the subject of the so called gifts. There are a list of nine ways the gift of Christ can be demonstrated or manifested and they are available to all who believe

1Co 12:7

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:

1Co 12:4 KJV

Now there are diversities of gifts (Charismata pl), but the same Spirit

There are many gifts of grace distributed to all mankind. It is all from the Loving Father, Creator of ALL that we have anything. God is called The Spirit because He is spirit. We have been given the Lord Christ which is the greatest of all gifts, but God gives all good gifts and every good thing anyone every received is a gift of Grace.

1Co 12:5 KJV

And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.

Once one has the greatest Gift of Christ there are many different ways that He can serve the world. Once we are in Christ and He in us we can served according to the amount of faith we have in Him living in us as the holy spirit!

1Co 12:6 KJV

There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons.

Once we have the Gift of Christ, we are now in Christ. We are His Body on this earth. We now have God the Creator working in the Lord Christ, working through Christ in us all kinds of spiritual manifestations or services in each member of the Body as the member believes he can.

This is the “trinity” that I believe in. God in Christ in US! Three working together as one but yet distinctly different! It is the same holy spirit from God to Christ to the holy ghost that is our inner man. One God and father above all. No polytheism

Eph 4:6 kjv

one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

Eph 4:7 NKJV

But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s free gift (Dorea).

“But unto every one of us is given grace.—This verse should be rendered, To every one of us the grace (the One “grace of the Lord Jesus Christ”) was given—that is, given in the Divine purpose in the regeneration of the whole body, although it has to be received and made our own, separately in each soul, and gradually in the course of life. It was and is given “according to the measure of the gift of Christ.” (See below, Ephesians 4:13-16.) In Him it dwells “without measure” (see John 3:34); He gives it to each according to the measure of his capacity to receive it in faith (called in Romans 12:3 the “measure of faith”)” Ellicott Commentary

2Co 9:15

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift (free gift Dorea)!

Act 2:38

Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift (free gift Dorea)! of the Holy Spirit.

Jhn 4:10

Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift (free gift Dorea)! of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”

Rom 6:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift (Gift of Grace Charisma) of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

There are many gifts but the one that really counts is Eternal life which is Christ in you the hope of Glory!

Col 1:27

To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which[fn] is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

All the universe is in God in Christ and now in You
